Vintage Hand-Painted Indian Earthenware Pot in Burgundy Red with Metal Stand

The first thing that catches the eye is its beautifully rounded shape, highlighted by layers of traditional hand-painted decoration in rich burgundy-red, warm ochre, soft white and green. Repeating floral and leaf motifs flow around the body of the pot, while delicate dotted borders add depth and contrast, creating a design that is both bold and wonderfully balanced.

Made from natural earthenware, the pot has developed a rich, mellow surface through decades of age and use. The painted decoration has naturally faded and softened in places, revealing the warm clay beneath and giving the piece the distinctive appearance that collectors appreciate in genuine vintage pottery. The dark burnished lower section provides a striking contrast to the richly decorated upper body, enhancing its rustic character.

Raised on its black metal display stand, the pot is equally at home on a coffee table, console, kitchen dresser, sideboard or office desk. It can be admired as a sculptural object in its own right or styled with a ready-made faux potted plant or trailing artificial foliage, creating an eye-catching display that complements country cottage, farmhouse, bohemian and eclectic interiors.

Condition

Very good vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including naturally rubbed paint, light surface marks and minor imperfections consistent with years of use.
