My memories of Easter from childhood are always about family — all of us together, gathered around the table. The first thing we did was play with the most beautiful hand-painted eggs made by my mum, and I think that’s where the feeling of Easter truly began for me.
The preparation started long before the day itself, and that quiet build-up is what made everything feel so special.
There was always the smell of freshly baked bread — the most perfect homemade bread, so soft and so delicious, often filled with different fillings, something nothing ever quite matches again. And everywhere around the home, there were fresh flowers — whatever could be found at that time of year — placed in every corner without much thought, yet somehow making everything feel alive.
When I look back now, I realise those were simply very, very happy moments. We didn’t have many decorations then (no, I am not 100 years old 😊), not like we do now, but it never felt like something was missing. If anything, it felt complete.
Easter Eggs, Styled Simply
For many, Easter brings a sense of lightness and a feeling of new beginnings.
Hanging decorations — eggs, bunnies, little sheep, vintage-style ornaments — all carry that quiet happiness of the season.
Eggs are, of course, part of Easter, but there are now so many to choose from — soft felt, delicate glass, simple textures and patterns. They don’t need to feel childish. A few carefully placed in a basket, arranged along a table, or tucked into a centrepiece with a candle holder or a small rabbit can feel simple and elegant rather than too much.
Easter tree
One of the loveliest touches is an Easter tree. This one I styled in a warm, rustic pitcher, filled with natural twigs and soft white blooms. Hand-finished hanging eggs in gentle, earthy tones are scattered throughout the branches, creating a light, airy feel. The mix of raw textures, subtle colours, and handcrafted details brings a quiet countryside charm — simple, natural, and effortlessly elegant.
Of course, the choice is entirely yours — mix fresh flowers with faux, natural branches from the garden with soft evergreen stems. Add a few eggs and your Easter tree is ready. Sometimes, even just a few branches are enough.
Spring fresh flowers
Fresh flowers do most of the work. Daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, and flowering currant (yes, I know some people don’t like the scent, but I do — and it looks so pretty) instantly lift a room and bring that unmistakable feeling of spring.
Placed in a jug, vase,
basket, or even a simple jar, with a candle holder beside or a small rabbit ornament, your Easter décor is complete — simple, soft, and full of life.
Spring wreaths
And of course, wreaths — there are so many to choose from.
I usually make my own. Handmade wreaths feel special; you put your heart into them. Styled with eggs or dried flowers, they become something truly personal — and you can be sure your neighbour won’t have the same.
Some can even be used as a beautiful centrepiece for your table.
Tableware, ornaments & candle holders
Oh yes — this is another part that makes Easter feel truly special.
Plates with delicate rabbit designs, mugs that bring you into a soft garden setting with bunnies, candle holders with a gentle, spring-like charm, and ornaments that blend vintage and modern with a touch of countryside warmth.
All of these details add beauty — a quiet, decorative layer that makes everything feel just a little more magical.
But in the end, it was never really about how you decorate your home or how much you have. It was about being together. Having your loved ones around you — that is what truly matters. I’m sure you feel the same.
And maybe that’s why, even now, when we are surrounded by so many Easter decorations — and so many types of chocolate eggs — I always come back to something much simpler.
Because decorations can be beautiful, but it’s the feeling behind them that truly matters.
Until next time…
Love, AAB 🤍
